Odisha: Union Minister donates plasma for Covid patients

Cuttack: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today donated plasma at SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

After being tested negative for the virus one month back following his recovery, the Union Minister donated his plasma for the treatment of serious patients at the plasma bank in SCB hospital. He contracted the virus in August.

“I got self satisfied as I donated my plasma. I request others who have recovered from Covid-19 virus infection to donate their plasma to save human lives,” the Union Minister said.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the State’s first plasma bank at SCB Hospital on July 15, 2020.

Experts say a person who recovers from Covid-19 produces antibodies in the blood to help the concerned person fight against the deadly virus. If a little bit of this antibody or plasma is given to a critical Covid-19 patient, this will help in the latter to recover from the viral infection.
