Odisha Unlock: Weekend shutdown withdrawn

Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the significant decrease in COVID-19 daily caseload, Odisha Government has further relaxed the restrictions for the month of September by lifting the weekend shutdown.

Earlier while announcing guidelines for the month of August, the Government had announced imposition of weekend shutdown for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri towns.

Briefing mediapersons, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena today informed that the Government has also relaxed time period of night curfew in all parts of the state. The revised time period of night curfew is 10 pm- 5 am. Hence, all shops and business establishments will remain open between 5 am and 10 pm across the state.

The Government has also increased the guest limit for marriage and funeral related events from existing 50 and 20, respectively to 250. Besides, cinema halls and auditoriums will now function with full capacity.

“Marriage processions will be allowed with due prior written approval from competent authorities subject to the ceiling 50 participants, including bridegroom, priest, friends, relatives, guests, members of band party, light and sound systems,” said the SRC.

However, all types of social, political and cultural gatherings will continue to remain prohibited during the period.

The revised guidelines will remain in force from 6 am of September 1 till 6 am of October 1.
