Odisha: Utkal University students to vacate hostels

Bhubaneswar: Acting on the order issued by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner following upsurge in Covid cases, the Utkal University authorities today decided to ask the varsity students to vacate hostels.

As per a decision taken during the meeting of the Utkal University’s Residence Committee, the PG fourth semester boarders will vacate the hostels by April 12, 2021.

Similarly, the PG first semester boarders will have to vacate the hostels immediately after the completion of mid semester examination, not later than April 16, 2021.

However, the university will allow the M.Phil final semester students, PhD scholars and PDFs to stay in the hostels provided with a recommendation of their guides and respective head of the departments to carry out dissertation and research work.

The University also decided to close hostel mess from April 17, 2021. However, the mess of research scholar hostels will remain open till further notice.

It was also decided that the boarders will be asked to take their belongings to facilitate renovation work at the hostels.
