Bhadrak: A team of Odisha Vigilance sleuths of Balasore division today arrested Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Sunanda Das and supervisor Sulochana Behera, both working in Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) in Bhadrak town of this district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
According to an official source, acting on the instruction of the CDPO, supervisor Sulochana accepted the bribe money in lieu of issuing an appointment letter in favour of the latter’s relative as Anganwadi worker. Sulochana had negotiated the deal with her relative to get the appointment done.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the supervisor and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are underway at three different places associated with the CDPO and two locations linked to the supervisor, from disproportionate assets (DA) angle.
A Balasore Vigilance PS case (No-21, dated: 15.8.2023, U/s 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018) has been registered in this connection. A detailed probe has been initiated, a senior official said.
