Odisha: Vigilance arrests Headmaster for amassing disproportionate assets

Bargarh/Cuttack: The Vigilance sleuths today arrested the Headmaster of Panchayat High School, Ganthiapali in Bargarh, Pramod Kumar Panigrahi on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. He was forwarded to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance of Bolangir.

Based on allegations, the sleuths conducted searches and calculated inventory of Panigrahi. They found him in possession of assets worth Rs 4.26 crore including a triple-storied building, two double-storied buildings, one single-storied building, 12 plots, one four-wheeler, other vehicles and cash of over Rs 19 lakhs.

Upon further inquiry, it was found that Panigrahi was in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 3.59 crore which constitutes 338% of his known sources if income.

A case was registered against him under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation.

In another development, the Vigilance arrested Sub Registrar of Baranga in Cuttack district, Ranjan Kumar Das for his alleged involvement in illegal gratification.

Yesterday, the sleuths intercepted him at 7.30 PM near Dion Apartment, Trisulia while he was proceeding towards Trisulia in his car. During interception, Rs 97,370 was seized from his possession.
