Bhubaneswar: The Vigilance sleuths arrested Tax Collector of Khordha Municipality, Sadasiba Swain on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to the known sources of his income. Following his arrest, Swain was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar and sent to jail till January 4, 2021.

In the course of search and inventory, Swain was found in possession of assets worth Rs 56,92,257 including one double-storied building, asbestos house, four numbers of plots, two numbers of two wheelers, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments, cash of over Rs 1.45 lakhs and household articles.

On basis of the search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar, the sleuths raided Swian’s houses and office yesterday.

A Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.41 dt.22.12.2020 was registered against Swain U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 PC Act, 1988 as amended by Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 for detailed investigation.

Investigation of the case is in progress.
