Boudh: A team of Vigilance sleuths today seized cash of Rs 6 lakh and a pistol from the possession of a police constable near his government residence under Baghiapada outpost limits in Boudh district.

The State anti-corruption squad arrested the policeman in this connection, who has been identified as Harekrushna Sahu. The cop is presently working in the Boudh District Voluntary Force (DVF).

According to an official source, Harekrushna was arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 6 lakh from a man. He demanded and accepted a hefty bribe amount from the latter to give protection to illegal ganja cultivation. Officials from the Berhampur and Boudh Vigilance divisions comprised the team.
It has not been ascertained yet whether any senior officials are involved in the unholy nexus or not.
