Koraput: Odisha vigilance has arrested a former block development officer (BDO) on corruption charge from New Delhi today. The accused was identified as Ramesh Chandra Sahoo, former BDO of Narayanpatana, Koraput. He was reportedly wanted in seven corruption cases and absconding since 2015. Sahoo will be produced in Delhi court and brought on transit remand to Odisha.

Official sources said the accused kept changing his locations in the last eight years and was residing in rental accommodations in Delhi and neighbouring areas.  He had shifted to Jorhat, Assam to evade arrest. The anti-corruption bureau got a tip-off that he had recently come back to Delhi. Subsequently, a team was stationed to track his location, after which he was nabbed today.

In the seven cases against him since 2015, Sahoo had allegedly misappropriated government funds to the tune of Rs 34 lakh in various pending projects and schemes.
