Balasore: Odisha Vigilance officials today arrested Padmanava Swain, working as Auditor in the Office of Executive Engineer, R&B Division-II, Balasore for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1 lakh.

As per reports, Swain had demanded the amount from the complainant, a contractor, in order to process the release of security deposit amounting to Rs 8,67,473 deposited by him for a work executed by him.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from Swain by the anti-corruption agency and seized.

A case has been registered in this connection while further investigation was underway.

Vigilance then carried out simultaneous searches on properties of Swain at two places in Balasore district.
