Superstition! Odisha villagers perform puja to keep COVID-19 at bay

Rourkela: Even though researchers around the world are yet to invent medicines to provide cure from COVID-19 infection, residents of Kapranda village under Bhalulata panchayat in Bisra block performed pujas to keep the deadly virus outside the periphery of their village.

A local said after three COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Bisra area, the villagers conducted the puja in their houses while observing the social distancing norm and wearing masks.

The village women cleaned the garbage of their houses and put that in earthen pots and threw them outside the village limits following pujas.

Another local said by throwing the garbage outside Kapranda,  the residents believe that the disease has been put beyond the periphery of the village.
