Odisha weather alert: Fresh low pressure with cyclogenesis likely over bay

Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area with potential of cyclogenesis is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal around October 19, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today. The system is likely to move towards Odisha-West Bengal coast.

A few models are indicating emergence of the remnant of cyclonic storm over South China Sea into Andaman Sea around October 18 with further intensification and west-northwestwards movement towards Odisha-West Bengal coast, the IMD said.

Genesis potential parameter index is indicating potential zone for cyclogenesis over Andaman Sea and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal during October 17-20, the agency added.
