Odisha weather alert: Thunderstorm likely in these dists; Monsoon to hit state in 2-3 days

Bhubaneswar: Several districts of Odisha are likely to experience thunderstorm today, the Regional Meteorological Centre here forecasted.

Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, the Meteorological Centre predicted.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and Mayurbhanj, it added.

On the other hand, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance into some parts of Odisha during the next 2-3 days, it said. This apart, a low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood around June 11.
