Odisha weather alert: Yellow Warning for heatwave, thunderstorm for several districts

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm along with lightning is likely to lash several parts of as many as 15 district across the state for three days starting June 11.

Issuing Yellow Warning,  the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Regional Centre here said thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over districts, including Khordha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Balasore from June 11.

However, heatwave condition will prevail over several parts of districts like Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Boudh during the next 48 hours.

Weather forecast and warning for several districts:

From 8.30 am of June 10 to 8.30 am of June 11 ( Yellow warning)

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Boudh.

Impact and action suggested:
— Heat is tolerable for general public but slight health concern for vulnerable people (infant, elderly and sick people)
— It is advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather while going outside during day time in the said areas.

From 8.30 am of June 11 to 8.30 am of June 12 ( Yellow warning)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore.

From 8.30 am of June 12 to 8.30 am of June 13 ( Yellow warning)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Bargarh, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul.

From 8.30 am of June 13 to 8.30 am of June 14 ( Yellow warning)

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj.

 

Besides, the weathermen said that there will be no large change in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places over the districts of Odisha during next two days and slight fall by about 2 degree Celsius at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha thereafter.
