Odisha: Wishes pour in for Dutee’s ‘silver’ show in Asian Games

Bhubaneswar: Congratulatory wishes poured in from across the State and country for Odisha-born star sprinter Dutee Chand for her terrific performance at Jakarta Asian Games 2018.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated Dutee for bringing glory for India. “Congratulate #DuteeChand, our own sprint queen on bringing more glory for #India with a silver medal in 200m sprint, following a silver in 100m. Entire #Odisha & the nation is proud of your silver double at the #AsianGames2018. Well done!,” Naveen tweeted.

Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal said:”Congratulates Dutee Chand on her historic success in Asian Games 2018 and making Odisha as well as India proud,” the Governor said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Dutee and termed her performance as “spectacular”.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Dutee on winning silver in women’s 200m sprint this evening at Jakarta.

The State Sports Association also congratulated Dutee after she bagged the silver medal in women’s 200 metres, saying an exceptional feat to make Odisha proud before Hockey World Cup.

Minister of State (I/C) Youth Affairs & Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore lauded her on Twitter for her sterling performance.

Bollywood star Anil Kapoor is the first to wish Dutee on microblogging site Twitter just minutes after she was announced the first runner-up in 200m race.

Dutee finished second in finals with a timing of 23.20, which was faster than her qualification round timing, while Bahrain’s Odiong Edidiong won the gold clocking 22.96 and Wei Yongli of China took the bronze in 23.27 in a close finish.

Earlier, the ace sprinter had also won a silver medal in women’s 100m race on Sunday.
