Odisha woman bites off tongue of trespasser, survives rape bid

Kakatpur: In a weird incident, a woman fought off bravely by biting off tongue of a trespasser, who allegedly tried to rape her inside her room at an Ashram under Kakatpur area in Odisha’s Puri district.

The incident occurred on premises of Dadhichi Ashram late on Wednesday night.

According to reports, the woman was staying alone at the Ashram. Taking advantage of it, a miscreant entered into the Ashram and knocked at the door of the room she was staying in, in the dead of the night. When she opened the door, the person attempted to outrage her modesty by tying her face with a petticoat. In her defense, the woman managed to untie the cloth from her face and retaliated. She bit off the assailant’s tongue following which a portion of his tongue was snapped off.

In order to save his life, the alleged perpetrator, who was bleeding profusely,  fled the scene.

On receiving information, Kakatpur police reached the Ashram on Thursday morning and recovered the piece of tongue detached during alleged rape bid.

Reports said that, the woman has been residing at the Ashram since over three decades. She managed to save herself from being raped by showing immense courage.
