Odisha woman charred to death in fire due to short circuit

Khordha, Mar 28:

In a tragic incident, a woman was charred to death after a fire broke out due to a short circuit this afternoon at Rath Colony under Nirakarpur panchayat in Khordha district of Odisha.

The deceased has been identified as Swagatika Rath, wife of Manas Ranjan Rath.

According to reports, Swagatika, who was staying with her son and mother-in-law, was taking rest in her bedroom after lunch when the tragedy struck.

In the meantime, power failure took place when her mother-in-law was busy in household work following which she called her daughter-in-law, but didn't get any reply.

However, a neighbour noticed smoke billowing out of the deceased’s room and raised an alarm.

The elderly woman rushed to the room and found her daughter-in-law dead with some home appliances gutted.
