Odisha: Woman, child missing after being swept away by flash flood in Ganjam

Bhanjanagar: A woman and her child went missing after they were swept away by a flash flood while crossing a culvert near Narigochha village of Brahmanapadar panchayat under Bhanjanagar block in Ganjam district of Odisha today.

The woman’s husband, however, managed to save his life by holding the branches of a tree, sources said.

The incident took place when a couple of Chingudijhola village along with their child were travelling on a bike to reach a nearby place in the evening. The trio along with the bike was swept away by the flash flood while crossing the culvert.

On being informed, police and fire brigade personnel reached the spot and rescued the woman’s husband. However, they could not trace the woman and her child till the last report came in.

Notably, Ganjam district witnessed heavy rains in last couple of days.
