Jeypore: A woman doctor has landed in controversy after taking selfie with a mobile phone inside the operation theatre of the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here in Odisha's Koraput.

According to reports, a pregnant woman was recently admitted to the operation theatre at the DHH in Jeypore. While operation of the woman was in progress, Doctor Sasmita Dash took a selfie.

The photo was later uploaded to social media. After the incident came to fore and drew flak from various quarters, CDMO Lalit Mohan Rath has ordered for a probe into the matter. Required action will be taken after submission of the investigation report, he said.

On the other hand, Doctor Dash said she had no wrong intention in taking the selfie and posted the photo in a WhatsApp group of the DHH doctors and officials.

"It was a collective decision of the doctors to take the selfie in order to inform the CDMO about the commencement of operation at the OT. It was a special occasion as it took many days for revival of the OT and the operation was the first one," the doctor said.
