In what is said to be the fallout of feud between husband and wife, a woman allegedly drowned her two daughters to death in Odisha’s Sambalpur district today.

According to reports, the accused woman identified as Baijayanti Mahali allegedly drowned her two minor daughters aged around three years and two months respectively to death while her husband was away. After killing her two daughters, the woman reportedly had gone to commit suicide on the railway track.

While proceeding towards the railway lines in Bamra, locals saw the woman and informed the local police. Gobindpur police reached the spot and rescued the woman.

“The couple was at odds. They had a fight last night and today too over the man’s late return to home. The woman was spotted near railway track by locals in a suspicious state who informed the police. We have rescued the woman and detained her,” said Dheeraj Topdar, IIC Gobindpur police station.

It may be mentioned here that the woman’s husband Durga Mahali works as a Junior Engineer at Bamra Block Office.
