Odisha woman ends life after poisoning son, daughter

Malkangiri: A woman allegedly committed suicide after poisoning her son and daughter at Godaguda village in Odisha’s Malkangiri district last night.

Sita Madkami, the deceased woman, reportedly mixed poison with food and gave it to her eight-year-old son and five-year-old daughter. She later consumed it too.

The woman and kids vomited after having the food, following which neighbours rushed them to the district headquarters hospital, where Sita was declared dead. The two children are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Though the reason behind the extreme step of the women is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that she committed the act for being in poor financial condition for the last one year after demise of her husband.
