Angul: A woman ended her life by lying in front of a moving train near Pingua village in Banarpal area of Odisha's Angul district today. The deceased has been identified as Gitanjali Rout (54).

According to reports, the woman was hiding in a bush near the railway track this morning. As a train approached, she placed herself on the track. The train ran over the woman severing her into two pieces.

Police have recovered the body for post-mortem and initiated an investigation. The reason behind the extreme step by the woman was yet to be ascertained.
