Odisha woman ends life over hubby’s ‘extramarital affair’

Bhubaneswar: A woman allegedly died by suicide over suspected extramarital affair of her husband at Odisha’s Rayagada town today.

The deceased has been identified as B. Sarada of Kasturinagar at Rayagada.

Sarada had tied the knot with Ishwar Rao some years ago and the couple was blessed with two children, a son and a daughter.

The couple along with their two children was staying in a rented house at Kasturinagar.

Sarada and her husband had travelled to Visakhapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh on some work a few days ago. However, she returned Rayagada alone today morning, sources said.

The woman allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan in their house by using a sari while her two children were away in school.

“The woman’s two children found the door of the house locked from inside upon returning from school. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan when someone broke open the window,” said a local.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.

Sarada’s family, meanwhile, alleged that she ended her life over her husband’s extramarital affair with another woman. They have lodged an FIR in this regard with police.

“Sarada’s husband Ishwar Rao has an extramarital affair with a woman in Vishakhapatnam. The couple used to quarrel over the issue very often. She finally ended her life today,” alleged the deceased’s brother.
