Angul: An official of Odisha Forest Rangers' College was arrested for allegedly betraying a woman forester on pretext of marriage.
The accused has been identified as Biswajit Nayak (32), posted as the Clerk in Forest Rangers' College in Angul.
According to reports, the duo come in contact with each other when the woman forester had first visited the college in the year 2017 for training. Gradually, they developed closeness through chats and frequent calls.
Reportedly, Biswajit had invited the woman for New Year celebration on January 1. Keeping his request, the woman forester also visited Angul and the duo spent a night together.
Reports said that the college official motivated the woman to have physical relationship at night promising her of marriage. However, next day, Biswajit went back on his word and threatened her if she discloses about their relationship.
Betrayed by the official, the woman forester lodged a complaint at Angul Police Station on Thursday. Following the complaint, the duo underwent medical test at Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) yesterday.
The accused has been forwarded to the court following medical examination, informed Angul Police Station IIC Ramesh Bisoyi, adding that the victim is married and blessed with a child.
