Odisha woman gang-raped in Puri, alleges constable’s involvement

Puri: At a time when conscience of the country’s people has been shaken over the gang-rape and murder of a veterinary doctor three days back, a woman’s alleged gang-rape in Puri today has left many shocked.

As per reports, the woman was waiting for a bus in Nimapara to go to Kakatpur. In the meantime, four persons reached there in a vehicle and offered her lift to Kakatpur. When she denied the offer, the four persons took her forcibly in the vehicle.

Later they took her to an official quarter in Puri. Two of them gang-raped her in a room.

The woman somehow caught hold of an identity card from the official quarter where she was sexually assaulted. Later she lodged a complaint at the Kumbharapada police station accusing the involvement of a police staff whose name was mentioned in the identity card.

The police staff has been identified as Jitendra Sethi.
