Odisha woman held for duping 3rd husband, multiple Aadhaar cards seized

Bhawanipatna: The Kalahandi Police have arrested a woman possessing four fake Aadhaar cards for allegedly duping her third husband. Three associates of the woman have also been apprehended.

According to reports, accused Ellee Mahanta (32), who hails from Sundargarh district, had initially married one Kumudabandhu Patel. After his death, she tied the nuptial knot with one Rajendra Das in 2013. On getting separated from Rajendra, she was staying with her relatives in Chhattisgarh.

In June, 2020, she got married to one Bikash Jain of Risida in Kalahandi. Her associate Birbal Sharma (60) played the role of mediator in the marriage and took Rs 4 lakh from the family members of Bikash as his fees for mediation.

Later, Ellee’s in-laws found her fake Aadhaar cards and suspected foul play. The woman then demanded Rs 5 lakh from them to live separately.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by the Jain family, police carried out an investigation and came to know that the woman with the help of her associates used to dupe men after marrying them with different identities.

She had prepared fake Aadhaar cards in the name of Sindhumati Munda, Mamta Jain and Mamta Agrawal, police said.
