Odisha: Woman IIC held for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe

Bhubaneswar: Harbhanga police station Inspector In-Charge (IIC) Puspalata Routray was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a quarry leaseholder in Boudh district today.

The IIC allegedly sought the bribe for allowing the quarry leaseholder to carry out his business without any harassment, sources said.

The quarry leaseholder had lodged a complaint in this regard with Odisha Vigilance, sources added.

The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused IIC and seized, said a Vigilance official.

Berhampur Vigilance police registered a case (11/2023) in this regard under various Sections of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018, added the official.

“Our officials are investigating the case,” he said.
