Odisha woman kills stepson for property

Nayagarh: A woman allegedly killed her stepson, who was a divyang, to get entire family property here in the district.

The incident was reported from Similisahi village under Dasapalla police limits in Nayagarh district.

According to reports, divyang Bijay Pradhan was earning for the family by driving an autorickshaw. His marriage was fixed recently, which was opposed by his stepmother. He was admitted to the Dasapalla CHC on February 11. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. However, he died while undergoing treatment late on Saturday night.

Sources said that Bijay’s stepmother had been torturing him for property. Reacting to it, the 37-year-old man consumed poison.

However, family sources termed the incident as a murder.

He was beaten to death by his stepmother. His father had also helped her in the crime, alleged deceased Bijay’s aunt (mother’s sister) and uncle (mother’s brother).

On the other contrary, the deceased’s family claimed that he was hospitalised after falling on the ground due to some reason.

Till the last report came in, no complaint had been filed with the police.
