Odisha: Woman Maoist killed in gunbattle between jawans and Maoists

Bhubaneswar: A woman Maoist was killed in an exchange fire between security forces and the red rebels on Kandhamal-Kalahandi border today, police sources said.

According to reports, SOG and DVF jawans had on April 22 launched an anti-Maoist operation in Madanpur-Rampur area.

While the security forces were conducting search operation in the forest area, the Maoists opened fire at the jawans this forenoon. The extremists also exploded some IEDs.

The SOG team later fired in self defense. After the firing stopped, a woman Maoist in uniform was found dead at the spot during search.

Many incriminating Maoist articles, camp articles, haversack and live ammunition have been recovered from the spot. Further search operations have been intensified in the area.
