Bhubaneswar: A married woman was allegedly driven out of home by her husband in Telkoi area of Keonjhar district in Odisha after she underwent tubectomy recently.
Janaki Dehury of Dimiri Gaon under Saleikana panchayat in Telkoi block of Keonjhar is now staying under a mango tree in front of their house along with her newborn baby, sources said.
According to villagers, Rabi Dehury of Dimiri Gaon had tied the knot with Janaki soon after the death of his first wife.
The couple has been blessed with as many as 11 children since their marriage, villagers said.
“The couple has now five sons and equal number of daughters while one of their children died a few years ago,” said a villager.
Janaki reportedly underwent tubectomy at Telkoi Community Health Centre (CHC) on February 14 as per the advice of the doctors and ASHA workers, sources said.
Livid over the incident, Ravi allegedly drove out Janaki from their home on the plea that the woman has lost her sanctity to worship their family deities, sources added.
“Janaki along with her one month-old son is now staying under a mango tree in front of their house,” said the villager.
When contacted, Rabi refused to give any comments on the incident.
