Odisha woman mowed down on way to railway station with college certificate

Talcher: In a tragic incident, a married woman was killed in a road mishap while returning to Bhubaneswar with her engineering degree certificate here in Odisha’s Angul district today.

The deceased was identified as Pritimayee Behera (30).

According to reports, Pritimayee was staying in Bhubaneswar. She had been to Talcher yesterday to obtain certificate from Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, Sarang.

The incident took place today in the morning while she was rushing to Talcher Road Railway Station on a scooter with one of her relatives to board a local train to Bhubaneswar.

Sources said that an unidentified vehicle hit the scooter near Gurujanguli Chhak following which the duo was bumped off the two-wheeler. The woman, who was on the pillion seat, sustained serious head injuries and died on the spot.

Following the incident, the irate locals staged road blockade demanding compensation to kin of the deceased woman.
