Bhubaneswar: Hours after the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the office of BJP MP from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi for allegedly violating Covid-19 norm, the Parliamentarian slammed BJD and demanded the Odisha government to seal the ruling party’s office for violation of the guidelines.
In a presser, Sarangi displayed some photographs and asked the government when the BJD’s State office will be sealed for the Covid norm violation. She cited the instances of Gandhi Jayanti celebration and blood donation camp at BJD party office and Maharathy’s funeral procession during which Minister Samir Ranjan Dash was present despite being tested positive for Covid.
“Why the State government is adopting double standards in implementing the Covid norms? Attempts are being made to disrupt the development activities in Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency. My office has been sealed to settle political scores,” alleged the woman MP from BJP.
Sarangi informed she will send a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in a day or two with 17 images and one video as attachment showing violation of Covid norms at BJD party office and its leaders.
On her birthday celebration at her office by BJP workers, Sarangi said she got emotional and the mask was not on her face for a brief period.
It is worth to be mentioned that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation sealed the office of the Parliamentarian earlier in the day after a visual of her celebrating her birthday with a group of women without any masks went viral on social media.
Presenting the ruling party’s view on the Bhubaneswar MP’s allegations, BJD Spokesperson, Sulata Deo said the administration takes decisions to seal buildings and the ruling party has nothing to comment on it. In coming days, many hotels and buildings will be sealed if their occupants are found violating Covid norms, she added.
“Corona does not see political party and infect - BJD, BJP , Congress etc. It's a war against humanity and all of us should follow the Covid guidelines and fight this war together,” Deo said.
