Odisha woman, paramour end life during video call

Balasore: A married woman of Odisha’s Balasore district and her brother-in-law, with whom she allegedly had an extramarital affair, ended their lives during a video call, late last night.

According to reports, Varsha Singh (26), wife of Manas Kumar Singh (29), was residing at her in-laws’ house at Mulida Bazaar under Basta police limits in the district while her husband was working with a private company in Pune.

The woman allegedly developed a love affair with Rakesh (26), cousin of her husband. As the family members came to know about the incident, they sent Rakesh to Pune for working in a company.

However, Varsha and Rakesh were reportedly in touch through telecommunication. The matter turned ugly as the two made a video call to each other and took the extreme step of hanging themselves while being over the video call.

Though the family members rescued the woman and rushed her to Basta Hospital, doctor declared her dead. Police have registered an unnatural death case into the incident.
