Sundargarh: A woman and her paramour were sentenced to life for killing her husband in Odisha's Sundargarh district.
Hearing a case, Sundargarh District & Sessions Judge Court Judge Subhadarshi Pattnaik convicted the accused persons Situ Panda and Biswaranjan Gupta in the murder case and awarded them life imprisonment.
The court ordered the district legal services authority to provide assistance of Rs 10 lakh for the upbringing and education of the convict woman's only minor girl.
According to reports, Situ Panda and her paramour Biswaranjan Gupta killed her husband Gatikrushna Purohit of Brahmanpada area under Sundargarh Town Police limits in 2013.
Following the murder, the accused dumped the body in a forest near Panchapada in Chhattisgarh bordering Sundargarh.
The Chhattisgarh police recovered the body and handed over the case to Sundargarh Town Police Station. To mislead police, wife staged a protest in front of the police station demanding arrest of accused person involved in her husband's murder.
During investigation, the police cracked the murder case and arrested the deceased person's wife and paramour.
