Odisha woman poll candidate’s viral video: One more arrested

Keonjhar: The Keonjhar police has arrested another accused in connection with the obscene video and photographs of a young woman poll candidate going viral on social media.

The arrested youth identified as Chinmay Senapati is a resident of Bhadrak district. With this, the cops have so far arrested three persons in this case.

Earlier, police had arrested Jayadev Giri, a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Keonjhar district unit and his associate Bisnudutta Barik.

Keonjhar police said Jayadev and Bisnudutta had posted the video and photographs on social media which went viral later. The two were arrested after the victim’s uncle lodged a police complaint.

Briefing mediapersons, Sadar SDPO Prakash James and DSP, Headquarters Suresh Patra said, “The Keonjhar police are in touch with authorities of social platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp. Nine more persons are involved in the incident and search is on to nab the rest accused.”

Meanwhile, political observers said this might be a handiwork of rival parties in view of upcoming the elections in Keonjhar district that will go to polls on April 23.
