Odisha woman sets herself on fire over dispute with hubby

Bhadrak: A woman sustained critical burn injuries after attempting self-immolation over dispute with her husband at Sanakrushnapaur village in Kasia area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district today.

According to reports, Fakurani Jena had a verbal duel with her husband Gopal Jena this morning over family dispute. Later, she poured kerosene on her body and set herself ablaze.

Gopal, who tried to save his wife, was also injured during the process. The woman has sustained 90 percent burn injuries.

The husband-wife duo was initially admitted to the Basudevpur hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. The condition of the woman is stated to be critical.
