Odisha woman steals ornaments from her home to please lover; arrested

Balasore: A woman in Sahadevkhunta area of Balasore district in Odisha allegedly stole gold ornaments from her own house to please her lover.

The woman along with two others was arrested after her father lodged a theft complaint with police, sources said.

The police seized gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh, a motorcycle worth around Rs 2 lakh and Rs 20,000 in cash in connection with the theft case, said Balasore SP Sagarika Nath.

“The woman stole the ornaments from her house in several phases over a period of one year. She handed over the same to her lover. Her lover purchased a bike worth Rs 2 lakh by selling some of the stolen ornaments,” added the SP.

The family members of the girl came to know about the incident when they opened their cupboard a few days ago. The woman’s father lodged a complaint in this regard with Sahadevkhunta Police, said the SP.

“We have arrested three persons, including the woman, in connection with the theft case. We are searching for two others for their involvement in the crime,” she added.
