Keonjhar: A youth was arrested by Chennai police on theft charge in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

The accused Gourang Jena was arrested on charges of stealing cash and gold ornaments from a house in Chennai where he was working as a domestic help.

A team of Chennai police nabbed him from Daradipal village under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district late on Friday night.

According to reports, Gourang had allegedly looted cash and jewelries worth over Rs 10 lakh from his employer’s house in Chennai two months ago.

Acting on a complaint filed at a police station in Chennai, the police had caught the accused from his village in Odisha on August 12 without taking assistance from local police. The accused managed to abscond from the area after he was set free. On receiving information, a team of Chennai police once again visited Odisha and with help of Ghasipura police they raided the house of Gourang to arrest him yesterday night.

Sources said that police found no theft items from his possession. He will be taken to Chennai after interrogation.
