Odisha youth arrested by Delhi Police for theft of jewellery worth Rs 10 L

Balasore: Delhi police officials arrested an Odia young man in Raghunathpur area under Soro police limits, for alleged theft of diamond and silver jewellery worth Rs. 10 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Karunakar Das, a native of Raghunathpur village and son of Purnachandra Das.

According to reports, Karunakar had been employed as domestic help for a few years in the house of a businessman named Ravindra Kumar Khari in New Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar locality.

He allegedly stole diamond and silver ornaments worth more than Rs. 10 lakh from his employer’s house on June 4 and went missing. Suspecting the former’s absence, Ravindra registered an FIR (case number 173/19) against the accused in Adarsh Nagar police station.

A three-membered team of Delhi police arrested Karunakar with the aid of Soro police today. The accused confessed to have sold the ornaments in Cuttack, police sources revealed.
