Odisha: Youth arrested for cheating women on pretext of marriage

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a youth of Daringbadi in Kandhamal district for allegedly cheating several women on the pretext of marriage.

The incident came to the fore after three women lodged police complaint against the youth identified as Priyaranjan Naik alias Pintu.

Sources said Priyaranjan used to introduce himself as bank manager and a government employee and later develop relationship with women on the pretext of marriage. After keeping physical relationship, he used to blackmail the women demanding money.

“When I told him that I would lodge a police complaint against him, Priyaranjan threatened me that he would kill me if I do any such thing. Moreover, he used to come to my house and get physical with me without my consent,” said a complainant, who is a departed woman.

Police said a case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is on into the matter.
