Odisha: Youth attacks girl in one-sided love affair

Cuttack: A one-sided love affair turned bloody on Sunday as a youth attacked young girl with a sharp object inside a garment store in Odisha’s Cuttack town.

The victim, who was working as a salesgirl in the store, sustained multiple injuries on her neck and hand has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

The ghastly incident took place inside a saree showroom located at busy Dolamundai Square here at around 9 pm.

The accused has been identified as Bapi of Badhei Sahi in Buxi Bazar area in the city, police said.

As per the available information, Bapi barged into the showroom and asked the girl to go with him but when she refused a verbal duel broke out between the two and then it took a violent turn. The accused attacked her with a piece of broken glass inflicting injuries on her neck and hands.

Hearing her screaming, the other staff of the store and some locals intervened and caught the accused and thrashed him before handing him to the police. The youth was arrested by the Badambadi police and further investigation into the matter is underway.

According to the shop owner, the Bapi was pursuing the young woman for the last few months and it seemed to be a one-sided love affair.
