Odisha: Youth drowns in Mahanadi while taking selfie during boat ride

Baramba: In a tragic incident, one person drowned after a boat capsized near Bhattarika Peetha in Mahanadi river last evening. Though the incident occurred yesterday, the body of the man was recovered this morning. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Sahoo of Berhampur.

As per reports, Sunil, a staff of Jagatsinghpur electricity department, was picnicking  along with his colleagues , Nabakumar Mohanty, Anajan Naik at Bhatarika Peetha.

They took a small fishing boat on their own and went to the river for a ride. The trio did not take the help of a boatman while going for the boat ride.

After a few minutes, they took selfie on the boat in the middle of the river. As the boat was a small one, the trio lost balance causing the boat to capsize.

While Sunil went missing in the river, some onlookers were able to rescue Anjan and Nabakumar.
