Odisha: Youth electrocuted, two others critical while taking selfie on goods train

Bhubaneswar: A youth was electrocuted to death and two of his friends sustained critical injuries while taking selfie on a goods carrier train at Bhalumaska railway station under Kalyansighpur police station in Rayagada district of Odisha today.

The deceased has been identified as Debendra Nayak of Bartibali village under Kashipur block, sources said.

Debendra and his friends came in contact with the 25 KV live wires while taking the selfie on the train. Debendra died on the spot, sources added.

The trio had come to Bhalumaska to attend a wedding ceremony, villagers said.

On being informed, the Railway Police reached the spot and rushed the two critically-injured youths to hospital, they added.

“We have recovered the body and launched a probe into the incident,” said an official of the Railway Police.
