Odisha: Youth held for black marketing of railway tickets

Bhubaneswar: The Railway Protection Force today arrested a man on charges of black marketing of IRCTC tickets. With the help of more than 40 fake user IDs the accused, Bishnu Prasad Patnaik of Delang area in Puri, was running his illegal operations.

Bishnu Prasad used to purchase online railway tickets for others in exchange of money. He used to book online railway tickets more than the daily limit set by the IRCTC using the fake IDs.

As per the Railway Act, someone can buy ticket online from IRCTC for his/her own travel or use of family members. If anyone books tickets on IRCTC platform without licence for commercial purposes, the concerned person can face a jail term of three years and fine of Rs 10,000 under Section 143 of Railway Act.

The RPF also seized 700 railway tickets, one laptop and three mobile phones from the possession of Bishnu Prasad.
