Odisha youth held in Chhattisgarh for trafficking pangolin

Nuapada: A youth from Nuapada district was arrested in Gariabandha district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh state on charges of trafficking a pangolin.

Acting on reliable information, a team of police officials of the Mainapur police station of Gariabandha district nabbed the youth carrying a gunny bag in Kulhadighat village. During a search, the police found a pangolin in his gunny bag.

When questioned, the youth revealed his name as Pitambar Kata. He is a resident of Ghuchaguda village under Sinapali police limits in Nuapada district.

After registering a case under Wild Animal Protection Act 1972, the police forwarded the youth to court.
