Odisha: Youth kidnapped by miscreants from near shopping mall in State Capital

Bhubaneswar: With the festive season getting closer, a youth was allegedly kidnapped by some miscreants from near a well-known shopping mall in Rasulgarh locality of Bhubaneswar, today evening.

The victim youth has been identified as Priyabrata Sahoo, who belongs to Belabahali village under Anandapur police limits of Keonjhar district.

According to a police source, Priyabrata along with one of his friends was coming from Rasulgarh Square to the shopping mall when he was intercepted by the wrongdoers and later kidnapped.

“Some unidentified miscreants forcibly picked up the youth in a white car,” an eyewitness stated.

Priyabrata’s friend shouted for help but to no avail. The miscreants immediately fled from the spot. The latter lodged an FIR with Sahid Nagar police in this regard. Swinging into action, a police team reached the spot and launched a probe into the kidnap incident, which is underway.

The reason why Priyabrata was kidnapped during rush hour has not been ascertained yet.

“I came from my village to Bhubaneswar in the morning to witness Dussehra Puja celebrations. I had previously talked with my friend over mobile phone and then reached here. My friend is an Interior Decorator. We both sat the day long in his office and in the evening came to the shopping mall as I had not seen it. When we were returning, all of a sudden, about four to five youths in a white car confronted us and picked him up. I chased them but to no avail,” Priyabrata’s friend expressed.
