Odisha youths enter record books for creating world’s biggest rakhi

Bhubaneswar, Aug 18:

Two youths from Odisha have made it to the prestigious Limca Book of Records for creating world’s biggest rakhi a year ago.

The creators of the rakhi— Biswakanta Panda and Yannita Priyadarshini— today displayed their certificate here at Kala Kendra here.

The gigantic rakhi titled ‘Sneha Ra Samparka’ has been acknowledged to be included in the Limca Book of Records.

“We are ecstatic that our rakhi has entered into Limca Book of Records. We had created in on August 29 last year and it had taken around 25-30 days to make it. We had used paddy, rice, and natural colours in it. The rakhi resembled the face of Lord Jagannath and had dedicated to people from all religions, caste, creed and community,” Biswakanta Panda said.

“I had conceptualised it a year ago before working on it. My friend Yannita was of immense help to me in making the huge rakhi,” he added.

Notably, the two students of the University of Culture in Odisha capital had created the rakhi at Indira Gandhi Park, Unit-2 here last year. The dimension of the rakhi was 50×500 ft and drew a large gathering and accolades likewise.
