Odisha YouTuber arrested for ‘training’ parrot

Keonjhar: Teaching a parrot to talk and posting it on YouTube channel proved costlier for a youth as he was arrested for allegedly violating the Wildlife (Protection) Act in Odisha.

The accused YouTuber has been identified as Chinmay Mohanat, a resident of Kumudi village under Bansapal Block in Keonjhar district.

According to reports, the 25 years old Chinmay a few days ago had posted a video on his YouTube channel ‘Chinmay Vai.1m views’ showing how to teach a parrot.

In the video, he was seen teaching a medium-sized parrot of Alexandrine parakeet specis.

The PCCF took action against the YouTuber following a complaint made by Snake Helpline Founder Subhendu Mallick.

By order of the PCCF, Bhuyan Juang Pidha Range Officer Manas Kumar Murmu on Wednesday arrested Chinmay under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
