Odisha zoo to remain shut for cyclone FANI

Bhubaneswar: In view of extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI, the Nandankanan Zoological Park will remain closed for visitors for three days.

The zoo will be shut from May 2 till 4 for the cyclonic storm FANI, informed the Nandankanan authorities here today.

The decision was taken for the safety of wildlife animals in view of the cyclonic storm to avoid casualties inside the enclosures and safari.

Notably, the severe cyclonic storm FANI is likely to cause maximum damage in nine coastal districts including Khordha following its expected landfall in Puri district. It is likely to cross between Balukhand and Satpada on May 3 with maximum sustained wind speed 175-185 kmph gusting to 205 kmph.
