Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha sacked Digapahandi ZP Member Bipin Chandra Pradhan from the party.

By the order of BJD president Naveen Patnaik, the party expelled Bipin Chandra Pradhan, ZP Member of Digapahandi in Ganjam district from the BJD for his anti-party activities, informed BJD General Secretary Manas Ranjan Mangaraj today.

The move came a day after a clash between two groups -- supporters of Digapahandi MLA Surjya Narayan Patro's son Biplab Patro and another supporting Bipin Pradhan -- over the block chairman election at Digapahandi on Thursday.

Allegedly, the supporters of Bipin Pradhan staged a road blockade and attempted to storm the block office after the state election commission postponed the block chairman election yesterday.

Notably, the election to chairman post in Digapahandi Block in Ganjam district is necessitated following the death of Sunita Sethi on June 11.
