Bhubaneswar: BJP's Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab was today sworn in as the pro-tem Speaker of the 18th Lok Sabha.

President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Mahtab at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Mahtab will oversee the oath-taking ceremony for newly elected MPs.

He is a 7-time MP from the Cuttack Parliamentary Constituency.

In the recently-concluded elections, he had defeated BJD's Santrupt Misra by a margin of 57,077 votes.
